1. How do you feel about Michael Jeffries’ view on who should wear Abercrombie and Fitch’s clothing?
In my opinion, Michael Jefferies’ view on who should wear Abercrombie is
inappropriate, because everyone has the right to choose what they would like to
wear, it is part of the human rights. However, not only fat people get judged
and discriminated in our society, skinny people might also face these problems
too. For example, I have been discriminated by my elementary classmates since I
was wearing the wrong “outfit”.
2. Is it fair/equitable to target a particular group of teens? Why or why not?
It is unfair to target a particular group of teens, because as I have
mentioned, everyone deserves the right in purchasing anything according to
their own wish. Company also has the responsibility to adjust their marketing
plan for more than one particular group. If the target is more than one
particular group, the company itself will earn more too. Since targeting more
than one particular group of teens can possibly benefit for both the company
and the customers, so why don’t companies think about it?
3. How does this contribute to our already biased perception of what beauty is?
This
contributes to the biased percertion of what beauty is because Jefferies openly
states that being too big for a certain size is considered ugly, or fat, or non
worthy to live. This gives an impression that we are never good enough for
society because of how we look. And no matter how we change, because of the
definition of beauty by society, we will never be able to be good enough.

1. Do you think that having twitter accounts will help attract youth to take a greater role in the life of the Church?
In my opinion, I don’t think that having twitter accounts will help
attract youth to take a great role in the life of the Church. The reason is
that youth nowadays only focus on what they like and prefer. Even if these
young kids have twitter accounts, they will possibly follow other pages instead
of the Church. However, it will definitely promote the Church itself if it has
a twitter account, and also more news can be updated online, which would be
much more convenient.
2. What are the benefits of having our Church leader tweet? Are there any disadvantages?
The benefits of having our Church leader tweet are the ability for us to receive
announcements quickly from the Pope, and easier access to Church’s activities,
and the fact that it is convenient. The disadvantages to having our Church
leader tweet are some sort of displeasure from older generations, since twitter
doesn’t seem to be a traditional way of communicating.3. Does your parish take part in the social media world? If so, please explain.
I am sorry that I am not a Catholic, so I don’t belong to any parish.
4. Are there any other ways that the Church can encourage our youth to get more involved? Do you have any personal experiences related to this?
The
Church can encourage youth to get more involved by creating more events or
activities for youth who live in the same community. These events could be
group activities which contains the different religious meanings as well. Even
though I don’t have any personal experiences related to this, but I think this
is definitely a good example to attract youth to get more involved.

1. Are you a member of a social networking website? Why or why not?
I am a member of sever social networking websites. I am a member of
social networking sites because it is common methods for people of today's
society communicate, and help express their emotions.
2. Have you checked your privacy settings lately? Who can see the information that you put out there?
I check my privacy quite often. For the most privacy settings, only
people whom I label as ‘friends’ or ‘followers’ can see the information that I
put out on the Internet. Most of my accounts are set on private, so that
strangers would not be able to see any of my personal information.

What kind of information are you allowing others
to have access to? Have you thought about this before?
The kind of information that I allow strangers (non-friends/followers) to
see is some basic information such as my name. The kind of information that I
allow my friends and followers to see are things including pictures that I have
taken and other personal status. I have thought about this before, especially
with social networking website such as Facebook. A large amount of people in
the world have access to Facebook, Facebook is public to anyone from anywhere
in the world, they are able to see any posts or information about myself. This
is the reason why the majority of my social networking sites are set with a
private setting.
4. What kinds of things are safe to post? Unsafe? List some unsafe information that you should keep to yourself and not allow others to see online.

5. How can we become more responsible users of social network websites? Why is this so important?
To
become more responsible users of social network websites, we must think several
times before posting anything on the Internet. Since pretty much all resources
you post online can be copied. As people shop online, some people post private
information like their credit card numbers for any purchase. If any hackers
hack into their computers at this time, then these credit card numbers can
possibly be stolen. People could take their credit card number and use this
kind of information to actual obtain everything on the card. It is important to
think before you post because once something is up. It is our responsibility to
keep track of our uploaded information or other resources.

1. Do you think that Khadijah’s comments about her teacher, that he “lives at home with his mom, eats fish sticks for dinner, and all he talks about is Star Wars” were appropriate? Explain.
In my opinion, I think that Khadijah's comments about her teacher were
inappropriate. I think it is wrong to judge someone based their usual behavior,
especially someone of some sort of authority and power. Even though this might
be considered as a joke, but teachers have feelings too. If that teacher sees
and reads any of these things, he will probably feel very upset since it’s
unbelievable that his own student is trying to hurt his feelings.
2. What is your opinion on the suspension of these students? Was it reasonable for the school board to enforce such a punishment? Why or why not?
Even though this is something inappropriate, but I think the students should
not have gotten suspended. If their comments were similar to Khadijah's, it
would not be as reasonable to suspend students for tweeting things. I believe
that a more just punishment would be a better detention. There are people who
do much unkind things that do not receive a appropriate punishment. A
suspension was too punitive for teenagers and students at school
3. How do you feel about the reaction of the students – that they should be able to share their opinions freely? Is it okay to post this sort of thing on social media websites like Twitter?
Everyone
has the right to share their opinions freely, including students, but doing it
on social media websites might not be a good choice. People have feelings.
Excitement, happiness, anger, sadness, and other emotions should always be
expressed through specific methods. When it comes to expressing your emotions
and feelings about someone through some sort of media, it is very risky. Once
something goes on the Internet, it stays on the Internet, no matter how many
times you try to delete it. People will always have access to it, and if it is
a mistake you made in the past, too bad, you will never have the opportunity to
correct it, and your friends and family will always remember.
Response to “Paparazzi : Scandalous?”
1. Do you agree or disagree with the way celebrities are treated by the paparazzi?
I disagree with the way celebrities are treated by the paparazzi. The
paparazzi are constantly being too involved with these celebrities' personal
life. When they paparazzi try to take photos for the sake of publishing the
latest news, the paparazzi put others and the celebrities' and their own life
at risk. It is dangerous for both the celebrity and the paparazzi. Although
celebrities are aware that anything that they do will be published, whether it
is something good or not, but they always need to take responsibility for their
actions. However, the paparazzi should learn to respect these celebrities'
personal life, and avoid publishing false and offending content about their
life.
2. How far is too far?
Intruding and further investing their personal life crosses the line.
This makes every celebrity feel uncomfortable and though, since celebrities are
humans as well, they all have emotions.
3. Why would the paparazzi use media networks to their advantage to post personal news about famous individuals? Is this right?
The paparazzi would use media networks to their advantage to post
personal news about famous individuals because media networks are commonly used
by almost everyone in different age groups. People who use the media network
are able to access to the latest news about celebrities, which is much faster
and accessible than magazines or newspapers. This isn't right because the
paparazzi is displaying false information about these celebrities and invading
their privacy.

4. Research an appropriate paparazzi scandal that has occurred within the past few years. Do you agree or disagree with the way the celebrity was treated? Why or why not?
A paparazzi scandal occurred this year, and it was the Duchess Kate
Middleton's nude scandal. She was sunbathing and topless, when French paparazzi
had taken photos of her and posted them all over the Internet. I strongly disagree
with the way Kate Middleton was treated by these paparazzi. Even though the
newly crowned Duchess of Cambridge is a popular celebrity draw a lot of
attention from public, but it is ridiculous to post her topless photographs
since it is inappropriate. The treatment of Kate Middleton by the paparazzi was
horrifying, and I hope any similar incidents will not happen again.
5. How would you feel if someone invaded your privacy (cell phone, laptop, etc.)? Explain.
If
someone invaded my privacy, I would feel very upset and disappointed. I don't
appreciate people looking through my personal electronic devices, which contain
many of my personal privacies just to obtain details about me and use it
against me for other purposes. We should always treat people the same way as
they would like to be treated, so that any this kind of invasion could be
avoided.
